John Maynard and I have been friends for many years and I found him to be one of the most genuine people I have ever met in martial arts.
John's knowledge is not surpassed in this field and I also think John being credited and honored with his assistance and planting the mma seed in North carolina is the least we can do for this man.
Every time I see John it brings a smile to my face and he will always hold a great level of admiration with me.
Oh, and one more thing. That guy could scrap!!! Congrats John!!!

On behalf of the United Fighting Arts Federation, I want to congratulate you on your exciting MMA event today. Again, you are helping form MMA history as you did in 1988 when you and I attended the first seminar in the US taught by Royce, Rickson & Rorion Gracie along with several other BJJ Black Belts that Mr. Norris personally brought in from Brazil.
Even though it's been 20 years since Mr. Norris arranged that seminar for us, like you, I can still remember most details of those classes in great detail. And I remember the mixed emotions the seminars brought up among those of us in attendance.
Some of us openly embraced the concepts. While many others were in denial because they challenged our egos as well as many of our traditional stand up, striking based concepts.
Being the visionary that he is, Mr. Norris knew that the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and grappling was an important part of the future of modern martial arts training.
But none of us, including Mr. Norris, had any idea that this training session in 1988 would quickly evolve into what we know today as MMA just a few years later.
The world of MMA has come a long way since the first MMA fights. And I believe we are still only seeing the beginning of this evolution. It will be promoters like you, and the fighters like you have lined up to do battle today, who will help determine this evolution process.
I applaud all of you for your time, energy and passion for the sport. May this event be the first of many more to come.

I was amazed how quickly I got in shape with Kickbox Fitness at the Champion gym. Not only that, but John’s team know that working out should be fun. Not only are the Champion team great instructors they are now my friends. If you are tired of the big impersonal chains of gyms come and try Champion. It Kickboxes Ass!!

It’s great to work out with a team that is truly at the top of their game! John is a genuine kickboxing champion who has fought with the best. I have never been in better shape and I get to have fun at the same time. Does it get any better?

After I had my first child I lacked definition and motivation. After the shortest time with the Champion kickbox program I look better than I have in years. Its an intense workout but they know how to make it fun as well.

At school I was “the fat kid”. You just won’t believe the kick I got out of earning my first three belts under the tuition of John and his team. Now I can look in the mirror and say “oh yeah” and I turn heads instead of stomachs on the street. Thank you Champion.

The best thing about kickboxing at Champion is actually working with someone who is a genuine champion.
